Committee Sign-up

Parent participation is vital to the success of the Band of Stars.

Below are the Committees that are available for parents to join.

Please review the Band of Stars committees below then complete and submit the form to sign up for the committee of your choice. Please indicate the committee you are interested in and if you would like to be considered as committee chair if needed. Please feel free to ask any questions if you’re unsure what will fit into your life.

Your commitment time is based on your schedule. You can volunteer as much or as little as your schedule allows. Please inquire with your committee of interest about the exact duties and time involved.

Each Parent and Student is required to also volunteer for a Southern Star Invitational committee on October 1st. Please indicate below the committee of your choice.

Band of Stars Committees

Fund Raising

Committee Chair - Sandra Jones

This committee will assist with coming up with and implementing creative ideas to raise funds for the band. This will include recruiting sponsors and planning and implementing fund raising activities.

Concession Stand

Committee Chairs - Sandra Jones

This committee will set up and run the Band of Stars Concession Stand for all home games and Southern Stars. Volunteers can be rotated based on availability.

Spirit Wear

Committee Chair - NEEDED

This committee will assist with setup and selling of Band of Stars spirit wear at the home games and Southern Stars.

Music and Arts Benefit

Committee Chair - NEEDED

This is a fun and yummy activity that is put on by the SGHS arts department. Different restaurants will come and bring tastes of what they have to offer. We will need a Band of Stars representative and committee to work on getting this important fund raiser together.

Chaperones

Committee Chair - Jada Daniel

Chaperones are vital to the support of our students. We will need multiple chaperones at each game, home and away, and at every event and trip. Chaperones can be rotated and used based on availability.

Communications/Photography

Committee Chair - Angela Nelson

This committee is responsible for developing and maintaining an e-mail list of band students and band booster association membership. They shall be responsible for communicating to students and parents, via newsletter or telephone prior to a special activity. This group prepares news articles for the paper and radio stations, prepares notices regarding fundraisers, and is responsible for helping to keep a pictorial record of this year’s Band events.

Uniforms

Committee Chair - Deshanda Blair

This Committee will assist with passing out uniforms for performances; attend away games and special events for uniform support, and help wash uniforms after each performance.

8^th Grade Night/Recruitment

Committee Chair - NEEDED

This Committee will work closely with our band director Mr. McKinley and the Middle Schools to promote, encourage and motivate middle school musicians to join the South Gwinnett High School Band of Stars. We will host an 8^th grade night in the fall that will need to be organized by this group

Senior Week

Committee Chair - Vanessa O'Banner & Deborah Jackson

This committee will help coordinate all special activities for the Band of Stars seniors during Senior Week. They will also help with the Senior Table at the Spring Banquet.

Spring Banquet

Committee Chair - Shelia Grant

This committee is responsible for coordinating the Spring Banquet. This includes the Catering and room setup and decorations.

Volunteering for one of these committees is MANDATORY for all students and parents. This is our major fundraiser which takes a lot of folks to run. This will take place on October 1st.
