Financial Obligations 2012-2013

Here are some guidelines to help you predict what the overall cost will be to participate in the band program at SGHS. Note that required items will vary by instrument (for example, tubas and percussion don’t use caps) and that prices other than dues are estimates and are subject to change.

OPTIONAL ITEMS

There will be opportunities to purchase additional items or participate in additional activities during the school year. Some activities will involve the purchase of a ticket or meal, or payment of an entrance fee. Examples from prior years include (prices are approximate):

• Spirit Wear Items (bag, shorts, etc.)
• Atlanta Classic Football Game $10
• Trips ( in the past San Diego, Orlando)
• All State Band audition fee
• UGA JanFest $70 + Lodging
• Section Shirt $15-$30
• Indoor Drum Line
• WinterGuard

WHAT DO MY DUES PAY FOR?

• Band Camp, Instructors, 12 meals
• Band Wear - 2 t-shirts and warm-ups (new members) 
• Show Shirt
• Transportation of instruments to football games and competitions
• Competition entrance fees
• Props for marching band show
• Creation of marching drill and guard choreography for show
• Use of field uniform (marchers) and stand uniform (guard)
• Replacement of uniforms (along with money from GCPS)
• New instruments (on occasion as needed)
• Guard show uniform, makeup, shoes, gauntlets/gloves
• Marcy Bryan Scholarship
• Recruiting activities
• Postage, copies, office expenses
• Maintenance of equipment (e.g. golf card, podium, concession stand)
• Large Group Performance Evaluation entrance fees for concert band
• Coaches/adjudicators for concert bands
• Spring awards. 

STUDENT BAND ACCOUNTS 

Each Band Member will have a Band Account with the South Gwinnett Band Association.

Statements will be available at each Band Parent Meeting and upon request by emailing the SOUTH GWINNETT BAND ASSOCIATION.

This statement will list all Charges, Payments and Credits made to the SGBA.

Cash and Carry transactions will not show on the statement.

CREDIT BALANCE 

 If there is a credit balance in your Band Account, you may:

• Apply it to a purchase such as Banquet Tickets, Band Cards or Spriit Wear
• Have it refunded to you by check.

A Credit Balance Application must be filled out to provide a refund or to apply funds to a purchase.

PAYMENTS 

All payments or Credit Balance Applications may be turned in via:

• drop into the locked, blue band box in the band room
• Mailed to SGBA, PO Box 267, Snellville, GA 30078
• Give to the treasurer at any Band Association Meeting

MONEY ORDERS

• Make payable to SGBA
• write purpose and STUDENT name on the money order

CASH

Put cash in an envelope and write the date, amount, student name and purpose on the outside

GET A RECEIPT, Do not place cash in the Band Box with obtaining a recieipt first. Please see Mr McKinley for a reciept.

PayPal

• SGBA now offers Paypal as an option to pay your students marching band dues. Please visit our PayPal Page for further information. PayPal fees will apply.
